Flexibility was key for the new website, with the intention of it starting as a microsite with the ability to grow and evolve over time as the initiative develops. For that reason, a simple to use Content Management System was required to enable the team to add new pages and content over time when needed. New sections and functionality can be easily added to the site as the project grows, with a news and events section recently added to allow users to keep up date with the latest information and events within the borough.
Due to a varied demographic of users for the new website, the brief was to create a site that was simple to use and navigate for all users. Compliance to accessibility level AA of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0 was required and adhered to throughout, ensuring inclusivity for all users across all demographics.
Through implementing pre-existing branding for the initiative, the new website uses a lively colour palette and inspiring imagery that expresses positivity. The purpose of the website is to provide information to the user, but also to encourage them to get involved through the use of clear call to actions and opportunities to sign up to receive their newsletter.
The key for this website was to make it unique and different from all other age-related websites by projecting vibrancy, with the use of intergenerational imagery throughout that inspires the community to get involved.
“The team at greensplash were very accommodating to meet our tight deadlines and worked closely with us to ensure these deadlines were met. They provided a clear plan which we shared with partners to ensure they supported and contributed to feedback within the timescales.
The website has received a lot of positive feedback, providing a vibrant and informative website which we can use as a key communication channel to get our AFCW messages out to our key audiences.”
