Work Experience: Tasha’s Story
Tasha Williams from Weaverham High School has spent the last two weeks on work experience with greensplash, getting some hands-on experience in graphic design.
Under the instruction of Creative Director, Andy Dunn and Graphic Designer Stacey Hughes, Tasha has been getting to grips with industry-leading professional software tools such as InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop, which she has used to create a brand design for a school project, including posters, a newspaper advert, and promotional items such as tee shirts, keyrings and mugs.
Tasha proved to have an enthusiasm for graphic design that quickly endeared her to the company. Following her two-week tenure at greensplash, Stacey commented:
“Tasha has shown a great enthusiasm in developing her design skills and has welcomed any task we have set for her. As a first time user of industry standard software she has shown both initiative and skill. Her receptiveness to receiving creative feedback, along with her willingness to learn has been reflected in the progression of her designs over the 2 weeks.”
Tasha is the latest of many students that greensplash has hosted for work experience. We have a strong record of providing opportunities for local youth. Director Andy Dunn stated:
“greensplash is committed to developing our community by investing in its youth. To this extent, we are proud to welcome students such as Tasha into our company, so they can get a taste of the design world and hopefully be inspired by the experience.”
Fortunately, feedback from Tasha’s family indicates that greensplash have succeeded in this goal. Her Grandfather Stephen Smith sent the following glowing testimonial after Tasha had completed her work experience:
“…she clearly has enjoyed and benefited from her time with Greensplash… I think her time with you is encouraging her to study graphic design in the sixth form or at college.”
