Work Experience: Day 4
I have reached my penultimate day here at greensplash now, yet the excitement and momentum is still just as high as the first day. Each day I have experienced something new, a pattern which was certainly not broken today, and I know will continue into tomorrow as well.
Today did not follow quite the same structure as the previous three days, but this enabled me to develop skills in other areas we had not yet touched on. I told you that they like to keep you busy here at greensplash!
A Step Up From Blogging!
Before I began my week here, I had been informed that the Northwich Guardian would be visiting us one day this week to take a photo of myself with some of the greensplash team, and also with our local MP, Graham Evans! This photo will be printed in the newspaper, along with an article written by me. As such, this morning was spent writing the first draft of my article, which will also be based on work experience at greensplash. Writing the basis of the article was a really enjoyable process, and a really nice way to reflect upon my time here, especially since it will be more of an overview of the entire week as opposed to a day-by-day account of what I’ve got up to. It was difficult at first to work out the right style to write in, however I soon opted to stick with the same sort of tone that I had been writing these blogs in and to build on it from there. Clearly, I could not write it all because I still had a day and a half to go with the work experience, but it was good to form the basis of the article and obviously a very exciting feeling to know that it would be published in the Northwich Guardian!
More Tweeting and Blogging Work Experience
Just like the previous three days, I scheduled the tweets for greensplash and Relish. Despite carrying out this task various times, I don’t find it boring in the slightest and really do enjoy searching for interesting content for the twitter feeds. Similarly, I also put up yesterday’s blog and feel much more confident using WordPress and dealing with the SEO side of things. I did actually encounter a slight issue with the setting of the featured image on the blog post, but as always it was only a minor issue and was easily solved by members of the greensplash team, and at the same time, enabled me to learn how to deal with similar problems in the future.
A Bit of Market Research
Now it was time for a completely new task! Jon asked me to research the effectiveness of SMS marketing, especially looking out for key statistics, such as open rates and conversion rates. This market research added a completely new dynamic to my work here at greensplash and it was good fun to discover more about this popular form of advertising. It was another prime example of the hands-on approach used regularly by the team at greensplash, which meant that I gained some experience in carrying out secondary market research, as well as learning more about the concept in general, and hopefully being of some use to greensplash at the same time!
Unfortunately tomorrow will be my last day at greensplash, however I am eagerly looking forward to meeting MP, Graham Evans, and the photographer at the Northwich Guardian, and hope that you enjoy reading all about it in tomorrow’s blog post.
