In the Spotlight – greensplash creative superman, Ian Cussons
Take a look into a day in the life of our Senior Web Developer and eCommerce specialist, Ian.
As a hybrid designer/developer, I am heavily involved in both areas of crafting a website from scratch – from tickling pixels in Photoshop to writing and deploying code, to launching a new online presence for all to see.
My favourite types of project are those which challenge a client’s audience with content and visual assets, in order to deliver a diverse experience on any device. It all starts with a good plan and understanding business goals, strategy, as well as the content behind the website that is often unique to our client’s business.
From there, we deliver a robust design process, which explores design, interactivity and functionality to deliver a website that breathes life into our creative concepts. Our website projects don’t end here, we know that a website needs to be easy to update and maintained post launch to keep content fresh and ensure the site is inline with the clients evolving needs. We pride ourselves in integrating an easy to use content management system (CMS) tailored to our clients’ needs, along with a flexible solution that is futureproofed.
I enjoy exploring the humanistic aspect of a websites audience, after all, a website should be designed and optimised for the target audience. By looking at ways in which to interact with them specifically, perhaps by introducing quirkiness and personality (both serious and fun), we make a website experience to remember. It could be anything from using particular styles of photography (or video), clever use of relevant puns, or quirky interactive content such as ‘Hairy Harry!’ Don’t worry, it’s not what you think…it’s a hairy coconut hidden on pages throughout one of our clients’ coconut related website, obviously!
